SOA is a software design concept that allows multiple services, including business processes and applications, to be grouped together into one interoperable system. SOA puts all of the services together on a network so that they can communicate with each other and coordinate activities regardless of system requirements, operating systems, and coding language. Our use of SOA as an implementation methodology for our customers led Exceptional Software to become an OSGi Alliance Adopter Associate enabling us to leverage our membership to collaborate with other alliance member organizations to influence developmental specifications thereby helping to shape the future of OSGi technology and industry best practices. As the OSGi basis is a component integration platform with a service-oriented architecture and lifecycle capabilities that enable dynamic delivery of services. The utilization of OSGi can convey enhanced value to an enterprise SOA strategy through enriched modularization and componentization of the Java platform allowing applications to be transformed in-place and in real-time according to operational needs. The inherent features of compliance with the OSGi specification provide uniform cross-product support for state modification to software components (e.g. started, stopped, updated, or removed) without system/service disruption. This increases the interoperability of applications and services based on the OSGi Service Platform. By adopting OSGi technology, we reinforce our commitment to delivering standards-based, silo-free technology that helps our customers solve their complex computing challenges. Additionally, we offer expertise in OSGi technology development and deployment, and we will soon offer OSGi-related training and certification programs.
